Training in Mindfulness-based Cognitive behavioural therapies

Our Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training is approved by the British Psychological Society Learning Centre for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Compassion and Mindful Movement Retreat

Training Dates: 9 & 10 June 2012
2 day course
Location: 11 mins from London Bridge by train
Fee: £220 or £190 if paid two calendar months before the start of course
Accommodation available at the same venue for £30/night (Only 2 rooms)

For whom is the course:

Many trainees and even experienced MBCT/MBSR trainers feel apprehensive and lack the confidence and basic anatomical knowledge to teach mindful movements. This course aims to change this and wants to encourage participants to find their own movement practice and to give them the knowledge and skills to teach them safely. The weekend will be of an explorative nature. Helen will lead the movement practice and then there will be time to discuss, take notes and to explore one’s own practice.

Aims and objectives:

  • To learn the fundamentals of a safe movement practice
  • The 3 basic movement positions (standing, lying, sitting)
  • Do's and don'ts
  • Specific health issues (shoulders, neck, lower back)
  • Chair exercises

The Course will endeavour to combine Compassionate Mind Training and Mindfulness with Mindful Movement:

Compassionate Mind and Mindful Movement:

Compassion is an important skill, which adds to Mindfulness the ability to ‘love what is’. We aim to see ourselves as if we were a beautiful diamond, which needs just a little polishing here and there.

If we can learn to truly accept ourselves with compassion it may be much easier to be present in the ‘here and now’, and not be drawn to old fears and self-judgement or worries about future goals and external appearances.

The movement and meditation practices will help us to enter a peaceful relationship with our inner selves and our bodies.

The retreat will include silence, movement and meditations as well as short individual interviews with the teachers.

Places on the course are limited to 16-18 participants.
